Malaga company Freepik is promoting 'The Chronicles of Bone', its first series created entirely with Artificial Intelligence.

A dark concept created with AI was born in Malaga and LA RAZÓN interviewed its creators, Kavan Cardoza and Sofía Lopez, Head of AI Growth, Social & Community, at the Spanish company.

Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant promise in the audiovisual field, but rather a tool that is beginning to sign its own projects.Malagasy company Freepik has acquired 'The Chronicles of Bone' and turned it into its first original series created entirely with AI.To find out the details of this bet, LA RAZÓN interviewed its creator, Kavan Cardoz, and Sofía López, head of the company's AI, social and community growth.Freepik, founded in 2010 in Malaga, has evolved from a bank of graphic resources into a creative suite capable of generating images, video, sound and text in the same environment. "You come to Freepik with an idea and just leave with a finished final project," sums up Sofía López. He explains that the key is that the user does not have to follow the latest technological innovation: "Freepik's commitment is that the latest version will be available."With more than 900,000 paying subscribers and millions of users worldwide, the company defines itself as a pioneer in the integration of creativity and AI models on a single platform.”Created by the intellectual property of Cardoza, The Chronicles of of AI was co-founded by American studio Phom.it's non-negotiable from the start," he says. "We believe that the traditional model where creators serve the studio is outdated, in this new era the studio must serve the creator."

The series reinterprets classic figures such as King Arthur, Robin Hood, Peter Pan and Frankenstein in a shared and dark universe where their worlds collide."I've always liked these characters, but it felt like we were watching the same story over and over again," Cardoza explained.immortal, but control: "If they blow you up, you fall under their will. This completely changes the rules".The project was born with the ambition of a large studio: five seasons already structured, more than forty characters and numerous interconnected plots."In a traditional model, building multiple kingdoms and large-scale battles would cost hundreds of millions," says the director."I write, animate, edit, sound and complete every stage of post-production," he explained.

“The entire intellectual property protection was incompatible from the beginning.”

The monthly rhythm, on the first Friday of each month, to take advantage of technological development: "I want each chapter to highlight the best that AI can offer at that time."One of its unique features is its hybrid method.Cardoza designs and physically builds the costumes before digitizing them." I start by assembling the parts by hand. It's a bit Halloween-themed, but it's desirable. First I build the physical base," he explained. Then enter the images into Freepik and work with advanced models in many changes." The combination grew because the filmmaker was already using the tool."He told us that he developed the project and we saw the opportunity to open a new line of originals," he said.new formats, from short films to feature films.

"At Freepik, we want each chapter to represent the best that AI has to offer right now"

The speed of development of models requires constant learning."It's a very difficult world," admits Sofía López."From one model to another there is a lot of variation."However, he compares it to traditional cinema: "It's like a director testing a new lens or a new camera."For both, technology isn't a substitute for AI because they're not very famous with narrative." cautioned "What gives value is the story." Cardoza agrees and looks to the future with optimism: "We're on the cusp of a wave of new storytellers." His goal is for The Bone Chronicles to be remembered as one of the projects that helped open that door, showing that AI can be a legitimate way to tell stories withoutWhat is at stake is not just a specific production, but a model where the creator retains his intellectual property, controls every stage of the process, and uses technology as an ally to scale previously unreachable worlds.
