Protagoniza 'Los tigres', un thriller ambientado en Huelva en el que da vida a un experimentado buzo industrial incapaz de gobernar su vida fuera del agua

Antonio de la Torre

His stars in 'to turn to Zoas that he found the knowledge to build his life outside the water.

Rarely does a Spanish thriller achieve its goal: to involve and thrill the viewer in the adventures they witness.Alberto Rodríguez, the writer of memorable films like 'The Small Island' or 'The Man with a Thousand Faces', is one of them, the film 'The Tigers' which premieres this Friday.A fantastic film full of scenes shot underwater, it follows in the footsteps of Antonio, an industrial diver played by Antonio de la Torre (Malaga, 57 years old), unable to make a better decision out of water. In debt and in poor health, he finds an opportunity when he finds a stash of cocaine in the compartments of a cargo ship he has commandeered.

- I haven’t worked with Alberto Rodriguez in over ten years, how did you get this opportunity? What attracted you to this project?

-Alberto and I have contact because we live in the same city and our children study at the same school. There is a natural bond and I always have the feeling that one day we will work together again. And it's like he said something like, 'What did you do that you fell? How did you do it? He told me he had a role planned for me in a few different industries and I can swear I said yes without reading the script, which is good. It's really cool for me, maybe because of my past as a journalist, well, 'the kingdom', the world of corruption... if I'm in a world that can be interesting, well, it's interesting for me.So the movie could be shit, right? The problem is not the stories, but how they are told.

-You have noticed that Alberto changed with the director?

-Oh, no... maybe more angry?I don't remember exactly...the memory is distorted, eh?It's funny...just being in "Island" and "GRURO 7," it was the first movie where I thought I was going to have a kid, you know?I thought it was a funny guy and maybe I was laughing (laughter).Life, people. In short, I remember I had no confidence, and more of me: "Less, less, I don't need to be on top. And then it's true, I'm not saying he was careless on the other issue, anyway they're going to be complicated days." He said the same thing every day, even though we were performing at home, he always said the same thing, and it gave me a lot of pain.More villages, Underlier, but what's the point?I changed his unnatural sentence: "You have my promise, but you also know what you put in it, I'm a lizard."

- Are we too difficult?

-I remember I would do push-ups many times because I looked red on camera.Be careful, you don't have to do many things because of this powerful tool, once you do a damn thing, it's perfect. This is a very real thing. And one day in the bathroom Alberto said to me: "Don't you do push-ups?"

-- How exposed were you?

- Don't do anything.I am Tom Cruise's brand Hacendado sha.We only shot in the lake, the open sea sequences were done by other crews. If ever a passenger thinks it could be me, it could be me (laughs).

"I didn't do all the action sequences. I was the Big Creed Haidendo brand and we only shot in a pool."

- What kind of preparation did they need?

-Spending a few days doing the exercises between the two ridges. For a little while we tried those who feared us: you went with the hat in your kingdom, and at the same time the breath came out.We did it in the pool and you don't have to worry about it because if you get in trouble you'll be kicked out, but you can't take yourself out and manage it very well.

Have you ever felt like exploring the seabed?

-I had to empathize with the film, because there was a moment when I had difficulties because of the roughness. It's true that we didn't do the course because everything was in the pool.Yes, we got our qualification in Guadalquivir, which we did in one day, to drive a boat 6-7 meters long, because it was important to film some sequences. But I wanted to complete the training and I dived in the open sea in Alicante with Abigail Borg, the diving coordinator. We were in the bay, I don't think we went down more than seven or eight meters, but we saw a small fish, we really liked it and it was happy. It didn't occur to me to dive this summer.

- I think you have seen different types than the ones in the movie. What would you say defines you?

-They take cruelty very naturally and generally assume that it is a dangerous job.According to Alberto, this is the second most dangerous profession in the world.

His subject is Estrella, his sister, the image of the father who defines the relationship between the two people, and the relationship there is in the work of the Guardian. It never seems to end, does it?

- Woman yes, why are you going to tell me.We had trump, myzily, the genocade in Gaza ... There are a lot of things that do not want world peace until the women reward is accomplished worlder.Wives will confine peace.

- Things don't make good decisions.Isn't it hard not to be disappointed?

-Tee to solve the destination you bring in life, can't be able to explain it.Donald Trump is, he is, he is to do it to the forund of nobel, he is.If you don't believe in, can't be able to explain it.

- And how do you cry?

- He believes in what he does, he believes in his reasons, but he doesn't think and act.The player does not need to think.Mental actors are a pain... so actors can be mental, I know a few and they are great. But acting is something better, more desirable. You act with your soul and body, not with your head.

- You're either natural or you're not.

-I think it implies self-confidence, it's about self-belief.I think most of the actors are honored for their vulnerability.I remember that in my beginning I tried to imitate others and that I was not confident. There was a moment in my career when I turned 30 when I had a big problem.e Antenna 3 was a success. Many actors who used to go there are still working on it.There I played Junkie, the second job was enough, but I started to sink my teeth and reach the company with the combination between the fisherman and the journalist.I found someone in Jezi and there was a move to write a book. Then Daniel Sánchez-arévalo arrived, with 'azuloscirocichainegro', who gave me goya and changed my work.

Are you missing something about the newspaper?

- Not much, man.In other words, I was very comfortable, Canal Sur paid quite well, I played sports, because I'm a big football fan, and I went through different stages: first I presented, which was a challenge and I had fun, because it's a camera, then they changed me to a reporter and I didn't have a bad time.Plus, it also freed me from this problem of waiting on the damn phone, which is an acting nightmare.I was very comfortable and very good, but I am not Arturo Pérez-Reverte, nor Maruja Torres, nor Ramón Lobo. And then there are journalists who, with all due respect, have to do a newspaper, who basically can't shine a light on the character because this is Sobrevive.com…

- Back to the film, what was the biggest challenge and what was the most valuable?

-The biggest challenge for me is everything physically, all the diving sequences, and the most satisfying thing is that everything is fine.I saw the movie and I believe.

- How to maintain the ego with fifteen nominations for the Goya awards?

- Well, I'm old, old. There are already 57 sticks and if I continue to agree with Anna's nonsense, we are in a bad situation.I think I'm back a bit.I am very grateful, but I know that these are things that are not up to you.I really liked the nominations and then you shake it off and say, "Oh well, that's it."I'm not the worst, because they nominated me for the Goya award.Do or keep me in work if I also say that success has overtaken me, understanding success at the age of 40, and then, as politicians like to say, you already go home.

- Cinemas are going through bad times. Are you worried?

-I thought about it.I can't imagine how the business model will change, but I'm sure we'll continue to tell the story. Now, what are you going to do in the cinema?People watch audiovisual content.A lot of people already have projectors... I have a movie room in my own home. But for example, with a movie like this, if you don't go to the theater and hear that sound, you're missing something.
